I played this game a TON on my 3DS when I was a kid (Not sure why I decided to pick it up on the store though...) Became an absolute classic to me almost instantly. Honestly I much prefer the Game Gear version (this one) to the Master System version or its sister game Fatal Labyrinth on the Genesis. This version is just the most polished and pleasant in my opinion.
Here are some tips:
- The items you pick up are colored when you first pick them up, but after you use them you will become "familiar" with that item; Its name will change in your inventory reflecting what it does in game!
- The level exit always appears on the edge of a room, so run up against the edges of every room you enter.
- Hold start (enter on keyboard by default) to speed up the game
- Some spells can change your active weapon--for better or for worse!
- Sometimes the generation will bug out and you will become stuck (Boo...) You can sometimes luck out of this by using a shift spell which will teleport you to a random location on the map. If that's not available then your only option may be to walk around until you die of starvation. You only get 3 continues until you need to start over, though, so that should be a last resort. Making a save-state before entering the next level is encouraged.
- I don't know what the dragon does. Cute, though.
